The alternative Batavierenrace (53rd Edition)
The 53rd edition of the Batavierenrace, the 'alternative
Batavierenrace', will take place this year in the form of
a 20-hour run. What does this 20-hour run entail?
The starting signal for the 20-hour run will sound on Friday 9 May 2025 at 22:00. From that moment on, it is up to you as a team to run as many laps as possible within those 20 hours, on the University Campus in Enschede. A lap around the campus will be about 5 kilometers. You will compete from Friday May 9th 22:00 to Saturday May 10th 18:00 to run as many laps as possible.
The Batavierfeest will also continue this year! What this will look like exactly will be announced later.
The Batavierenrace (normal edition)
The route runs from the center of Nijmegen, through Germany, the quiet Achterhoek and the Oude Markt in the heart of Enschede to the campus of the University of Twente.
The total walking distance is over 175 kilometers and is divided into 25 stages (16 men's and 9 women's stages). Approximately 8,500 athletes participate each year, all of them students; it is to this enormous number of participants that the Batavierenrace owes its entry in the Guinness Book of Records.
In short, an annual mammoth event with a unique character: a mixture of top sports and toiling recreation!
Batavierenfest
With that to follow, the Batavians Festival!
The finish of the Batavierenrace around 6 p.m. is followed annually by the largest student party in the Benelux on the campus of the University of Twente in Enschede. An estimated 13,000 students go wild at various locations on campus!
